Apple iOS 10 Software Update Freezes Some Phones

BOSTON (CBS) – Apple's new iOS 10 software update caused some major problems on the first day you could download it.

Some customers complained on social media that the update froze their iPhones.

The error messages said the phones might need a factory reset, which wipes out the phones current content and settings.

Apple said the issue has been fixed.

"We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability," Apple said in a statement to CNET.

"The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help."
