Another Icy Morning Commute Leads To Several Crashes

BOSTON (CBS) -- Icy roads caused numerous crashes around Massachusetts Monday morning.

The rush hour commute was lighter than usual because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, but those out on the roads had a tricky ride.

Brookline police said they had six crashes in a two-hour span. Spinouts and accidents were also reported in Billerica, Bedford, Chelmsford, Wellesley, Burlington and Hingham, among many other communities.

The National Weather Service in Boston said travel was not recommended in the morning as temperatures hovered around freezing. Untreated roads were especially dangerous, officials said.
