Anonymous Tip Leads To Arrest For Portsmouth, NH, Assault

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (CBS) – Police say an anonymous tip and social media led to the arrest of a New Hampshire man who was caught on video allegedly punching a man in the face outside a popular diner.

James Egal, 33, of Dover, N.H., turned himself in to police on Sunday after being identified as a suspect in an assault that took place outside Gilley's PM Lunch on June 20.

Earlier this month Portsmouth Police released surveillance video of the incident.

Police said they received an anonymous tip on July 17, just two days after the video was released.

Egal was released on $500 personal recognizance bail following his arrest.

He is next scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Circuit Court on August 31.
