Angela Menino 'Overwhelmed At Tremendous Showing Of Love' For Husband

BOSTON (CBS) - The wife of the late Boston Mayor Tom Menino said she was "overwhelmed at the tremendous showing of love" for her husband.

Tom Menino, 71, died October 30 after a battle with cancer. He was Boston's longest serving mayor.

Angela Menino wrote the follow letter to share her gratitude.

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for their very generous outpouring of support for my family and me. We always knew Tommy was a special person and did a lot to make people's lives better, but I was overwhelmed at the tremendous showing of love for him during his final days, during the days of his services especially, and in the days since then.

People stood in the rain and snow, lined the streets, and held signs in numbers the likes of which I have never seen. He would have loved to be running a campaign! It all was amazing.

The people touched our lives and gave Tommy Jr., Susan, their kids, and me another reason to be proud of their papa and our city.
