'Violent' Pit Bull Loose In Amesbury After Attacking Person

AMESBURY (CBS) – Police are warning Amesbury residents about a loose pit bull that is described as "violent and extremely aggressive."

Amesbury Police said a brown pit bull attacked a person on Sunday morning in the area of Whitehall Road.

A shelter in place order was lifted on Sunday evening after the dog has not been seen for a while, though it is still on the loose.

Residents were asked not to bring their dogs outside until the pit bull is located.

The pit bull was last seen in the area of the Whitehall Lake Drive condos, Barbara Drive, Pamela Lane, and Unicorn Circle. Resident in those neighborhoods are asked to stay inside their homes.

Anyone who sees the dog is asked to call police and not approach it.
