Undelivered Amazon Packages Found In Garbage At Burlington Cemetery

BURLINGTON (CBS) -- Burlington police officers took to delivering Amazon packages Monday morning after about 40 were found in a dumpster. A groundskeeper at Chestnut Hill Cemetery discovered the packages and alerted police.

They are investigating how the packages ended up there, the department said.

"We were hoping Amazon would come out and pick them up and redeliver those packages, we were unsuccessful in doing that so we took the initiative going out and trying to deliver those ourselves, doing that," said Police Chief Michael Kent.

Amazon released a statement that said, "We appreciate the support of the Burlington Police Department in helping ensure packages get to customers. This situation does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery partners, and the individual involved is no longer delivering Amazon packages."

Police said criminal charges are possible.
