Amanda Belichick Named New Holy Cross Women's Lacrosse Coach

WORCESTER (CBS) – There's another Coach Belichick in Massachusetts.

Amanda Belichick, the daughter of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, has been named the new Holy Cross women's lacrosse head coach after she spent two years leading the Wesleyan lacrosse team.

"I am excited and honored to be the next women's lacrosse coach at Holy Cross," said Belichick. "I want to thank Nathan Pine, Joe Bertoletti and the entire search committee for this opportunity and for believing in my vision for the future of Holy Cross women's lacrosse. I look forward to building on the school's great tradition and working with the talented student-athletes in the program."

While coaching at Wesleyan in 2014 and 2015, Belichick helped the team improve its ranking from No. 49 in the country to No. 17.

Belichick has also been an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts.

In 2007, Belichick graduated from Wesleyan with a degree in history.

"I am pleased to welcome Amanda Belichick to Holy Cross as our head women's lacrosse coach," said Holy Cross director of athletics Nathan Pine. "Coach Belichick has an impressive coaching background at multiple institutions, and she has played important roles in all facets of running top collegiate women's lacrosse programs. She has a track record of recruiting and developing talented student-athletes, and I am confident our program will thrive under her leadership."
