Alleged Drunk Driver Asks Officer For Directions To McDonald's

STURBRIDGE (CBS) – A man who stopped to ask a police officer for directions to McDonald's was arrested after he registered a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.

An officer received a report of an erratic driver Sunday around 8:53 a.m.in the area of Picker Road and Route 20.

The officer found the car, and the driver then pulled up next to the police cruiser.

According to Sturbridge police, the driver of the vehicle asked for direction to McDonald's, and the officer noticed the man was "slurring his words and appeared dazed."

Joseph Damato, 32, of Millbury, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and an inspection violation.

Police said Damato's blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit of .08%.
