Celtics Reportedly Among Frontrunners To Sign Al Horford

BOSTON (CBS) – The Celtics have one meeting with a prize free agent in the books after they reportedly had a successful session with Al Horford on Friday night.

Multiple sources told the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach that a Celtics contingent including front office representatives, guard Isaiah Thomas, and forward Jae Crowder had a meeting with Horford.

The Globe reports that the Celtics believe they have a "good chance" at reaching an agreement with Horford.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported late Friday night that Horford held four meetings in total on Friday and plans to make a decision over the weekend.

On Saturday, Wojnarowski updated that the Celtics and Wizards are now the favorites to sign Horford. The Vertical also reported that Horford is expected to reach a decision by Saturday night.

The Celtics biggest pitch of the offseason is expected to come on Saturday. Boston is reportedly headed to the Hamptons in New York to meet with top free agent prize Kevin Durant.

Many expect Durant to return to Oklahoma City, though he will meet with several teams this weekend before making a decision.
