AG Healey Reviewing Pay Equity, OKs 6-Week Parental Leave

BOSTON (AP) — Attorney General Maura Healey is allowing new parents in her office up to six weeks of paid parental leave — including parents who adopt or participate in foster care.

Healey said the move is part of a larger discussion the state needs to have about pay disparity in Massachusetts.

Healey said there needs to be greater transparency when it comes to salaries and wages in both the public and private sectors.

She said she's reviewing the salaries of all 525 staff members in her office for pay disparities and supports legislation that would make it easier for victims of pay discrimination to bring a lawsuit.

Healey made the comments Tuesday before the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.

Healey said she's also instituting new training for all AG employees on unconscious bias.
