Jones' Day After Takeaways: Brady Bounces Back After Early Struggles In Indy
BOSTON (CBS) - The day after every Patriots game, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Adam Jones shares some thoughts via Twitter after giving the game a second viewing.
Here are Jones' takeaways from New England's 42-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts:
Re-watching Pats-Colts. Kind of surprising Gray didn't get his first touch until the fourth play of the Patriots opening drive.

He carried on four of the next eight plays: off left tackle (7), up the middle (7), off left tackle (16) and up the middle (4-yard TD).

We saw an early sign of Brady's first half issues on the opening drive. He missed Edelman isolated in the flat on Walden for a potential TD.

Tom Brady was 10-for-19 for 84 yards and 2 interceptions in the first half.
Just like Denver, Patriots continue to bring pressure up-the-middle with Hightower and Collins. Has bothered both Manning and Luck.

Jamie Collins led the team with eight tackles on Sunday night. Hightower had six.
Brady's first interception was underthrown thanks in part to Walden's pressure (via Vollmer). There was no such excuse on his second pick.

Revis will get attention for tipped INT to McCourty (rightfully so), but should also get attention for physicality at line of scrimmage.

Two plays in first half jump out: willingly tackled Bradshaw in flat (1-yard loss) and set edge on Richardson 3-yard loss (Easley tackle).

Per Jeff P. Howe of the Boston Herald, Revis allowed just one catch (six targets) for five yards last night.
Speaking of Easley, he didn't get the start (Zach Moore did), but he showed up with a couple first half pressures of Andrew Luck.

Going to back to the McCourty INT. One overlooked aspect is Akeem Ayers getting in Luck's face. Helped force the turnover.

McCourty's interception was his second of the year.
Belichick deciding to take a knee with 51 seconds remaining and all three timeouts tells you all you need to know about Brady's first half.

Great response by Patriots to open second half. But it was aided by broken play that allowed Vereen to run free for 39-yards.

Early sign Brady would be different in the second half: perfect back shoulder throw to LaFell for 26-yards up the left sideline.
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 17, 2014
Tom Brady was 9-for-11 for 173 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the second half.
Wonder what Sergio Brown ever did to Gronk? Poor guy must've told him wrestling is fake or something.
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 17, 2014
Gronk absolutely demolished Sergio Brown on Jonas Gray's final touchdown.
Incredibly dumb decision by Pagano to go for it on 4th-and-10 from his own 32 in a two-score game with 8:00-plus minutes and three timeouts.

Two final thoughts on the Patriots 42-20 domination last night in Indianapolis...
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 17, 2014
1) It's interesting to see the Patriots attempt to establish physicality on the road. It worked last night and in Minnesota. Not in KC.
— Hockey Jones ???????????? (@adamjones985) November 17, 2014
In total, the Patriots amassed 244 yards on the ground against Indianapolis -- a season high. New England totaled 220 yards against Cincinnati in Week 5 in their 43-17 win that helped jump start their six-game winning streak.
2) In a weird way, I feel better that Brady struggled in the first half. Proves he can adjust midgame when faced with adversity.
