Abduction Attempt Reported In Uxbridge

UXBRIDGE (CBS) -- Police are warning residents in two central Massachusetts towns to be on alert after at least one reported abduction attempt.

Uxbridge police say a juvenile was approached by a man in a gray, mid-90s, four-door sedan on Sutton Street near the intersection of Maguire Road at about 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The man looked to be in his 60s, wore a gray hat and glasses and was light skinned, police said. The car had a rectangle sticker on the left lower rear window and a red Massachusetts license plate.

"The contact the victim had was verbal only," police said.

Northbridge police shared a similar warning on their Facebook page, and said they also received a call Wednesday night about a young girl who was approached by a man in a gray car.

"Every parent should speak with their kids about this," Northbridge police said. "If it is safe please try and get a plate number. If it is not safe to do the most important thing is to run away and get to safety."

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
