Aaron Hernandez Taken To Hospital Briefly

BOSTON (CBS) – Accused killer Aaron Hernandez was taken to the hospital briefly this weekend, Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson told WBZ-TV Sunday.

Hernandez was taken from the Bristol County House of Corrections in North Dartmouth late Saturday morning to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford for treatment of a medical issue.

Hodgson would not say what the issue was, but said it did not involve a fight or altercation.

He said Hernandez's entire trip lasted about an hour, describing it as a routine transport that is standard procedure for any inmate.

"He was treated and released. I can provide no further information," St. Luke's Hospital spokesman Peter Cohenno told WBZ in an email.

On Friday, Hernandez requested that he be moved out of the Bristol County jail because he wants to be closer to his attorneys in Boston and he's having issues with Hodgson.

Hernandez is currently being held without bail for the June 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd in North Attleboro and the July 2012 murders of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu in the South End.
