8-Year-Old Girl Hit By Car In Boston, Driver Arrested

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston Police have arrested the driver who they believe struck an eight-year-old girl on Friday morning and then drove off. Tyrese Hamilton, 30, of Hartford, Conn., was arrested on Friday.

He was arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on a charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash causing personal injury. He was held on $1,500 bail and ordered not to drive without a license.

This is the second time in a week that a child has been hurt by a hit-and-run driver in the city.

Friday's crash took place around 8:15 a.m. near the Boston Police Academy on Williams Street in Hyde Park.

The girl has non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

On Wednesday, an 11-year-old boy was hit by a car while walking to school with his older sister in Dorchester. His aunt told WBZ-TV he has a collapsed lung and six broken ribs, among other injuries.
