77-Year-Old Woman Struck By Commuter Train In Framingham

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) - A 77-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train in Framingham on Friday.

The train was crossing the intersections of Concord and Waverley Streets around 7:30 a.m. when the victim was hit.

Transit Police Det. Mark Gillespie says the train had just left the station in Framingham and was traveling at a slow speed.

According to investigators, the woman was standing on one of the tracks when the gates came down, but she still attempted to cross to the other side, which is when she was struck.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was flown to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

The intersection was closed for about an hour-and-a-half while police investigated.
