4-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Blackstone

BLACKSTONE (CBS) - Police are investigating the drowning death of a 4-year-old boy in Blackstone on Friday.

The boy was pulled from Lake Hiawatha after 5 p.m. and later died, according to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.

The boy and his parents had been visiting friends on St. Germaine Avenue when the boy went missing, according to the DA's office. Authorities began searching the water and surrounding neighborhood. Twenty minutes later, authorities found the boy in the lake, pulled him from the water and began CPR. Blackstone Police and emergency medical personnel arrived and continued CPR.

The boy was transported to Landmark Medical Center in Rhode Island where he was pronounced dead.

State Police are investigating the incident with Blackstone Police.
