350 Granite Telecom Employees To Shave Heads For Dana-Farber Fundraiser

QUINCY (CBS) - More than 350 employees at Granite Telecommunications in Quincy are getting ready to have their heads shaved for charity.

The company, founder and CEO Rob Hale Jr. and COO Rand Currier have all vowed to donate $1,000 to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for each head shaved.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports

"We have 25 or 30 barbers showing up. It's probably going to take all day. I don't know how long it takes 20 barbers to shave 350 heads but I don't think they're going to leave until it's done," Currier told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens.

The cause is personal for Hale, whose father, Rob Hale Sr. passed away from pancreatic cancer. And since 2008, the company has designated a specific day each year to raise money for Dana-Farber.

Last year alone, the company's "Granite Day" pulled in $450,000 for Dana-Farber.
