3-Year-Old Battling Cancer Made Honorary Police Officer

BOSTON (CBS) -- A three-year-old boy battling brain cancer received special recognition from Boston Police Department Tuesday.

Declan John Higgins was made an honorary member of the Boston Police force.

After undergoing a full day of cancer treatment at Dana Farber, Declan received a police escort to the deparment's District B-2 headquarters.

The event was "special for all the officers who were able to see his brave, bright smile!!" Boston Police said in a statement.

"We salute you, Honorary Officer Higgins,"police said.
