3 Western Massachusetts Teens OK After Fiery Crash In Ludlow

LUDLOW, Mass. (AP) — Three western Massachusetts teens escaped serious injuries when their car hit a utility pole and caught fire Friday night.

Police say the 17-year-old boy driving was speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road when he rolled the car and crashed at about 10:30 p.m. in Ludlow.

Police Sgt. Daniel Valadas said two 16-year-old boys also were in the car. He said the driver is facing misdemeanor charges for speeding and driving with minors, since he's not old enough to carry underage passengers.

The teens had managed to get out of the burning Nissan Altima by the time police arrived.

They were taken to Baystate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
