2015 Great New England Air Show Expected To Be Biggest In Years

CHICOPEE (CBS) – If you're out in western Massachusetts this weekend, be sure to look up in the sky.

The 2015 Great New England Air Show will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee.

You'll have a chance to see the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and Canadian Snowbirds, the U.S. Army's Golden Knights parachuting team, an F-22 Raptor and a Canadian CF-18 fighter.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Joe Mathieu went up on a flight with the Golden Knights Friday and he was one of the few who had a round-trip flight, so to speak.

"They fly with the doors open for the whole time, so we're up at 12,000 feet with the doors wide open," Mathieu said. "It was like 10 degrees up there."

This two-day show is free to the public and will go on rain or shine.

But you should plan ahead because 250,000 people are expected to attend.

"This one is special, being the 75th (year) and it's bigger than it's been in decades," Mathieu said.
