2 Bottle Bombs Found In Duxbury Mailboxes

DUXBURY (CBS) -- Duxbury police say they have found two bottle bombs in mailboxes on Sunday.

A Valley Street homeowner called police around 4 p.m., saying that they found a plastic bottle that was oozing in their mailbox. The caller threw it to the ground.

Police shut down Valley Street from Route 53 to Franklin Street after learning it was an active bottle bomb.

Massachusetts State Police were called to the scene. Investigators say the bomb was made using common household chemicals.

The road was reopened by 5:30 p.m.

As of 8:20 p.m., police have recovered the plastic bottle chemical explosive bombs found in the Valley and Franklin Streets area, according to Duxbury police's Twitter account.

A State Police bomb technician rendered the bottles safe, according to the Duxbury fire public information officer's Twitter account.

No one was injured.

There were no known threats made against the homeowners that found the bombs.

If you find a similar device in your mailbox, stay away from it and call 911, police say.
