18-Pound Lobster To Be Set Free Off Scituate

SCITUATE (CBS) – A giant lobster caught off the coast of Massachusetts is getting a break.

Joe Norton, owner of Mullaney's Fish Market in Scituate, says he will release an 18-pound lobster he bought earlier this month.

The lobster, named "Luke Oceanwalker" by the staff at the fish market, could have sold for at least $100, Norton told the Patriot Ledger.

"The one-pound lobsters average 5 to 7 years old, so at 18 pounds, we figure he's about 75," Norton told the paper. "It's hard to tell the exact age when they get that big because there's no rings like a tree."

Luke will be set free Friday at Peggoty Beach.
