15 Puppies, 4 Parakeets Rescued From Lawrence Apartment

BOSTON (CBS) -- More than a dozen puppies and parakeets are recovering after they were rescued from a one-bedroom apartment in Lawrence last week.

According to the MSPCA, the owner of 15 "Yorkiepoo" dogs and four parakeets were living in a "cramped and dirty" apartment. The owner had been running an illegal breeding and selling operation.

The animals were brought to the MSPCA-Nevins Farm in Methuen last week. Eight of the dogs are up for adoption now, while the rest remain in foster care for a few more weeks.

Visit the MSPCA's website to learn more about adopting these and other animals.
