14-year-old girl grazed by bullet in Boston

BOSTON -- A 14-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet in Jamaica Plain on Thursday afternoon. The teen was outside a home on Boylston Street when it happened. 

She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and is expected to be OK. 

Police arrested the suspect 19-year-old Jeremy Duarte of Jamaica Plain a short time later in a playground on Brookside Ave. Officers also located a gun, loaded with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.

Duarte is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and discharge of a firearm 500 feet from a building.  

 A judge on Friday ordered Duarte held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on January 9.
