Man Struck And Killed By Tractor-Trailer On Mass Pike In Warren

WARREN (CBS) -- One person is dead following a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Warren.

State Police say a 38-year-old man from Agawam exited his vehicle while it was parked in the eastbound breakdown lane shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday. A preliminary investigation found that the man walked onto the right travel lane when he was struck by a tractor-trailer. Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer, a 50-year-old man from Syracuse, NY, stayed at the scene.

The breakdown lane and far right lane were closed for part of the late morning.

Authorities have not released names. The incident remains under investigation.
