Work Continues After Gay Street Water Main Break

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)—City officials say they are making progress on a water main break that shut down Gay Street earlier this week.

Officials say because of the progress made overnight, Gay Street has been opened to two lanes. Gay Street will be reduced to one lane over the weekend and then reopen back to two lanes on Monday.

In order to secure a permanent fix, officials say the work on the 16-inch main will continue all weekend.

Motorists are still advised to use caution and to continue using alternate routes as possible.

Water has also been restored to portions of the area, however officials say the area will be without water for six hours on Saturday while a new water valve is replaced. All customers are expected to have full water service by Saturday night.

Anyone with water-related questions can call 311 in Baltimore City, or (410)-396-5352.
