Woman Who Hid In Grocery Store Ceiling Identified

ARBUTUS, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County police have identified the accused shoplifter who hid from police in a grocery store ceiling.

Police responded to the Giant food store on Wilkens Avenue in Arbutus Tuesday for a report of a shoplifting and heard someone shuffling around in the store's ceiling.

Megan Elizabeth Kestner, 24, of the 800 block of Giles Street of Havre de Grace, was charged with theft, CDS possession, and second-degree assault.

She was released on her own recognizance.

Kestner was stopped by Giant loss prevention agents, police said, after she took a bag of Utz chips for $2.50 and various hair accessories costing $6 -- and tried to leave the store with them.

Security tried to take her to their office, but she ran off when they found needles in her purse. Police said she bite on the agents and escaped into the ceiling by walking up a catwalk.

Officers located her in the ceiling around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
