Md. Woman Who Fell Overboard Found Alive; Slept Overnight On Island

KENT COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) — A woman who fell overboard into the Sassafras River on the Eastern Shore Sunday night has been found alive, authorities said Monday.

The woman was on a 19-foot boat in the river in Kent County about 8 p.m. when she fell into the water, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police. She was not wearing a life jacket.

Crews from multiple agencies, including a helicopter, worked overnight to find the woman, who was later located alive and well, the agency tweeted about 7:20 a.m. Monday.

Authorities say the woman, identified 32-year-old Lauren Connor, of Aberdeen, attempted to swim over to a buoy when she fell off the boat, but was unable to hold on. Connor then swarm to Spesutie Island where she slept overnight until she was able to seek help in the morning.

Connors was evaluated by medical personnel and released to her family on Monday.
