BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 52-year-old Ocean City woman was airlifted to the hospital following a crash between a jet ski and a power boat in Assawoman Bay on Thursday afternoon, authorities told WJZ.

The vessels collided about 2 p.m. in Assawoman Bay, which lies behind Ocean City, Maryland Natural Resources Police spokesperson Candy Thomson said in a phone interview.

The jet ski's operator was knocked from the jet ski and wound up underneath the 30-foot power boat, where she was struck by the propeller, Thomson said.

The woman was flown to a hospital in North Delaware for severe lacerations to her legs and back. At last check, her condition was not known.

"The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending," Thomson said.
