Woman Slain Near Frederick Was Shot In The Head

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police say a Hagerstown woman found dead along U.S. 40 west of Frederick on Christmas Eve was shot in the head, allegedly by a female acquaintance.

Court records were released Monday in the case of 20-year-old Curtis Evans of Hagerstown. He's charged as an accomplice after the fact in the slaying of 20-year-old Malicia Smith.

Evans told investigators Smith was shot by a woman known as Nee Nee as all three traveled between Hagerstown and Frederick.

Evans told police that Nee Nee asked him to stop the car so she could check a broken mud flap. He told investigators that Nee Nee then asked Smith to get out of the car and shot her.

Evans told police he drove Nee Nee to New York after the shooting.
