Woman Sentenced To 20 Years For Abusing Infant Son

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A Frederick woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for abuse that caused the death of her infant son.

Twenty-four-year-old Elizabeth Tramonte had entered an Alford plea to first-degree child abuse resulting in death. The News-Post of Frederick reports that at sentencing Monday in Frederick County Circuit Court, Tramonte was ordered to serve her term at the Patuxent Institution, a state mental health correctional facility.

Tramonte was charged in the November 2011 asphyxiation death of 3-month-old Blake Tramonte.

Prosecutors say an autopsy and subsequent investigation revealed evidence of physical abuse.
