Woman Killed In Early Morning Crash In Olney

OLNEY, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say one woman has died in a single-vehicle crash in Olney.

Rescuers were called to the area of Hines Road and Blossom View Drive early Sunday morning for the report of a collision. Police say it appears a Ford Explorer left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree and light pole.

A 29-year-old male driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 43-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the deceased passenger as 43-year-old Lisa Ann Smith of Olney.

Detectives are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
