Woman Gets 18 Months For Hitting 2 Bicyclists

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A woman convicted of hitting two bicyclists, seriously injuring one of them, while she was driving drunk has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.

Fifty-five-year-old Robin Vera Colbert of Annapolis said she made a poor decision to drive while intoxicated. The Capital of Annapolis reports that she was sentenced last week in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.

Colbert was convicted of causing a life-threatening injury while under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol while transporting a minor.

Prosecutors say on June 28, Colbert was driving south on Governor Ritchie Highway in Annapolis when she drove onto the right shoulder.

Investigators say Colbert hit 23-year-old Katie Pohler of Glen Burnie and 27-year-old Todd Green of Severna Park, who were biking on the trail portion.
