Woman Dies In Early Morning Fire

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 48-year-old woman died in a fire early Saturday morning, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Fire units responded around 3:41 a.m. to 3003 Kenyon Avenue for a reported heavy fire on the first floor of a two-story home.

Once the fire was contained, firefighters began a search of the house and discovered a female victim on the second floor, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was transported to an area hospital. It was also discovered that the home did have a smoke alarm.

The fire was contained around 4:14 a.m.
