Woman Dies After Falling Into Manhole In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A woman has died after falling into a manhole in West Baltimore over the weekend.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Pearl Street and W. Lexington Street.

City fire officials say the woman fell at least 10-feet into a manhole that conducts steam.

The woman was extricated from the hole and taken to an area hospital. She died from her injures on Monday, authorities tell WJZ.

One firefighter was also injured during the rescue. They were treated at an area hospital.

The woman's identify is not being released at this time.
