Woman Dead In Laurel Motel Shooting

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- A woman is dead following a double shooting at the Turf Motel in Laurel Saturday morning, according to Howard County Police.

Officers were called to the motel, in the 9800 block of Washington Boulevard in Laurel, at approximately 4:30 a.m. for a report that two victims had been shot.

Amanda Duer, 29, of La Plata was transported to Laurel Regional Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The second victim, 33-year-old Derick Henderson of Washington, D.C., is currently listed in serious condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Through preliminary investigation, police believe that the suspect and victims may have known one another.

Detectives are following up on leads to try to identify the suspect and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
