Woman Dead After Crash In Frederick County

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a woman is dead after being hit by a car in Frederick County.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says its members were called around 6:30 a.m. Sunday to the scene of the crash on Route 194 in the area of Route 550. The sheriff's office says the crash involved a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta and that the driver stopped to report the collision.

The sheriff's office says the pedestrian, identified as 30-year-old Sarah Lynn Ruhl of Woodsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's office says the woman was walking in the roadway and wearing dark clothing when she was struck and that the weather was dark and foggy. The sheriff's office says excessive speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
