Woman Charged With Stealing From Flood-Affected Restaurant

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) — A 29-year-old woman has been charged with assault, burglary and theft at an Ellicott City restaurant following the recent devastating flood.

Media outlets report that Howard County police say Madeline Eve Scott of Ellicott City was arrested Wednesday on charges of second-degree assault, fourth-degree burglary and theft.

Portalli's Restaurant owner Evan Brown told police he found a woman walking out of his business when he arrived to assess the damage Sunday afternoon. Brown said she was carrying four bottles of liquor.

When he confronted the woman, Brown says she hurled one of the bottles at him.

An attorney for Scott was not listed in online court records.
