Woman Charged With Leaving Young Daughters In Car

WALDORF, Md. (AP) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office says a woman has been charged after they say she left her two young daughters in a cold car while she got her makeup done in a mall department store.

Deputies were called to the outside of the Waldorf department about 8 p.m. Tuesday by someone who heard children crying inside a car. Police say officers found a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old in the car.

Deputies put the girls in a police car. Authorities say the outside temperature was about 16 degrees.

Mall security paged the girls' mother, who met with deputies. Deputies say she had been in the store more than 90 minutes getting her makeup done.

Regina Marie Coleman, 28, was charged with child neglect. Her daughters were turned over to relatives.
