Woman Charged With Drunken Driving After Hitting Police Car

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say an Iowa woman was driving drunk when she crashed into a state police cruiser parked on the shoulder of a highway with its emergency lights flashing.

The Cumberland Times-News reports that 35-year-old Karen Keister of Des Moines, Iowa, was charged Saturday night after the collision on U.S. 40 near state Route 36 in Frostburg.

Keister couldn't be reached Monday for comment. She has no landline telephone listing and no defense attorney is listed in online court records.

Police say Keister was driving an SUV that struck the rear of the marked police cruiser shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

She's charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to obey a traffic control device, negligent driving, reckless driving and driving through a safety zone.
