WJZ Noon Puppy Pearl Gets A New Home, New Name

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- We're always happy to hear good news at WJZ and we often learn that our Friday featured noon puppies get new homes.

So we weren't surprised to hear that Pearl, featured on May 15, was picked up shortly after she appeared on our air.

Viewer Joanne Cahoon told us that her 92-year-old mother Harriette Cahoon fell in love with Pearl last week and so the two of them went to the Maryland SPCA to pick up Pearl.

"She has been renamed MayBelle by Mom, as she was found in May and was a starlet on wjz with Marty," Joanne told WJZ.

Harriette raised pugs when Joanne was a kid and she recently lost Ginger, a pug mix in March.

"I'm grateful that WJZ so serves pets and those who care for them," Joanne wrote, "and grateful to the folks at MD SPCA for their ongoing commitment."
