Winner Chosen In Black History Month Oratory Contest

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The winner has been chosen in WJZ's Black History Month Oratory Contest.

Paris Walker took top honors, sharing her message that trying something new can result in great things.

The South River High School senior used a quote from Maya Angelou for her winning oration.

WJZ General Manager Jay Newman talked about the importance of WJZ's community commentment.

This is the 23rd year for the Black History Month Oratory Contest.

The top three winners receive scholarship money.

Marcus Washington will have more at 5 and 6 p.m.
