Window Washers Rescued After Scaffolding Collapse
BETHESDA, Md. (AP) -- Two window washers were rescued from a building in Maryland after the scaffolding platform they were on partially collapsed.
Montgomery County fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says officials were called around 11 a.m. Wednesday to a building on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda. Piringer says the two men who had been on the scaffolding were suspended in place by safety equipment and were about 75 feet above the ground.
The National Institutes of Health fire department was able to rescue the men using a bucket ladder. The two were taken to the hospital to be evaluated and did not have life threatening injuries.
It was not clear what caused the scaffolding to collapse. The building the men were rescued from is a clinical center.
