Will Flacco Play In The Preseason Opener Tomorrow?

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Coach John Harbaugh declined to say whether or not quarterback Joe Flacco will play during Thursday night's preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, but he did strongly hint the Flacco will be just a spectator.

Their main goal for preseason is to continue to see what the rookies can do. They want to practice more with the "young guys" to see what they're made of.

Flacco has surely proven he's healthy enough to play, but the Ravens will likely be cautious with Flacco, especially if his goal is to be ready for the first regular season game. Ryan Mallett would start in Flacco's place.

There are about 13 players that will not take the field for the first preseason game: Dennis Pitta, Crockett Gillmore, Maxx Williams, Michael Campanaro, Chris Matthews, Chris Moore, Bronson Kaufusi, Terrell Suggs, Steve Smith, Elvis Dumervil, Breshad Perriman and Lorenzo Taliaferro.
