White House Task Force Working to Benefit Baltimore City

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A group of White House officials is helping Baltimore identify federal funding and programs that benefit the city.

Our media partner The Baltimore Sun reports that the White House Task Force on Baltimore has been working behind the scenes for more than a year. The group includes senior officials at the Department of Agriculture and other agencies.

The group has helped Baltimore get into a program that allows it to provide a third free meal to children during the summer. It has also helped the city secure $5 million in federal funding for job-training programs.

Baltimore is one of three places in the country with a dedicated White House task force. It was created weeks after the protests and riots sparked by the death of Freddie Gray in April 2015.
