Where's Marty? With a nearly century-old glass company in Baltimore

Hi Everyone!

 I get inspiration for "WM?" segments everywhere—even the JFX.

Where's Marty? Checking out the glass operation at Caplan Brother

Twice now, while driving the JFX, I have seen a company's vehicle driving along and said to myself, "That might be a great story."

The first time was a "Bobby's Potty's" truck.

And it turned out to be not a good, but a GREAT story, about a lot more than potties.

The second time was while driving next to one of these;

A delivery truck for Caplan Glass.

Caplan is over 100 years old.

It started as a small company by the Caplan Brothers and has grown into a large regional business with a 55,000-square foot warehouse and 75 employees located next to M&T Bank Stadium.

Given their time in business, it is VERY possible you have looked through, or even have in your home, some glass sold by the Caplans.

They do not make the glass but receive it in wide panes and then cut it to order. And there are a lot of types of glass available. They even make glass doors and frames.

But those trucks are iconic to Baltimore's business community.

And I have always wondered about hauling the glass panes on the side of the vehicle.

We were told, in all seriousness, that breakage from a kicked-up road rock is really rare, and the glass is held secure against rubber pads and then bracketed to the truck.

We want to thank Caplan Glass for being so inviting, and helpful to us. For more their info on emergency service for retail and home, and other services offered here is the web addy, https://caplanglass.com/
