Westminster Building Will Not Be Used To Shelter Immigrant Children

WESTMINSTER, Md. (WJZ) -- New information about a possible holding center for immigrants in Maryland.

According to our media partner, The Baltimore Sun, a vacant Army Reserve building in Westminster will not be used.

U.S. officials are trying to open new detention centers for children caught illegally sneaking into the U.S.

Local leaders did not want any to open in Maryland and blocked the proposal.

More than 50,000 unaccompanied children have flooded across the border from Central America.
