Western Md. Man Gets Life Sentence In Fatal Stabbing

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A western Maryland man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally stabbing his former girlfriend at her Boonsboro home.

The Herald-Mail reports (http://bit.ly/1CHRfhO ) that 41-year-old Thomas Hungerford was sentenced Friday in Washington County Circuit Court in Hagerstown.

Hungerford pleaded guilty last month to first-degree murder in the slaying last February of 42-year-old Tylena Sigler.

Investigators say Sigler was stabbed 11 times.

In a plea deal, prosecutors dropped 11 other charges, including those stemming from the stabbing of Sigler's friend Gerald Hurd, who was in the house that night. Hurd survived his wounds.
