Western Md. Boy, 16, Drowns In Jennings Randolph Lake

KITZMILLER, Md. (AP) -- A 16-year-old Kitzmiller boy has drowned in Jennings Randolph Lake along Maryland's southern border with West Virginia.

Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson says the victim is Roy Scott Davis Jr.

She says officers were called to the reservoir Monday evening for a missing and possibly drowned swimmer.

The boy's body was found in 32 feet of water by members of the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department.

Thomson says Davis was flown to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Thomson says an autopsy will be performed.

The boy's 17-year-old companion was rescued by fishermen, who were unable to reach Davis in time.

Thomson says the boys were in an area where swimming isn't allowed.
