Wells Scores 27 As Maryland Beats CCSU, 93-57

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Dez Wells scored 27 points and Jake Layman added 14, leading Maryland to a dominant 93-57 victory over Central Connecticut State on Monday night.

The game was part of the 2014 CBE Hall of Fame Classic.

Freshmen Dion Wiley and Melo Trimble each had 10 points for the Terrapins (2-0). Maryland shot 35 of 63 (55.6 percent) from the field, including 10 of 23 from 3-point range.

Matt Mobley has 14 of his 24 points in the first half, while Khalen Cumberlander had 11 for Central Connecticut (0-2).

The Blue Devils have all five starters back from last season, but had trouble adjusting to Maryland's tight man-to-man defense. The Terps started fast and a layup by Jon Graham gave the Terps a 19-6 lead midway through the first half.
